Biography

Alan began his footballing career with Ards and after catching the eye of scouts at Hull City, he moved to Boothferry Park in the summer of 1991. A few moths later Alan made his International debut in a 2-1 defeat away to Denmark in Odense

A thumb injury, meant that he was asked to appear as an outfield substitute and scored against Oxford United and eclipsed that with another goal against Blackpool with the last kick of the season. The following season Alan was transferred to Nottingham Forest for £250,000 as understudy to Mark Crossley. After falling down the pecking order, Alan made the move to Ewood Park in a £300,000 deal.

My time at Blackburn

"It was an honour to be part of Blackburn and to play and work with the quality of players that were there during my period".

"To work with great coaches, such as, Roy Hodgson and Brian Kidd and with fantastic goalkeepers like, Tim Flowers, John Filan, Alan Kelly, is something I’m proud of. It was, and still is, a great club, and will continue to be".
